ABOUT ME
Hi, I’m Lynsey Michelle Wells — creative producer and passionate advocate for the arts.
Born and raised in Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire, my life has always been rooted in creativity. From a young age, I immersed myself in the arts — dancing from childhood and teaching by the age of 15. Alongside dance, I trained in acting and singing, carving out a career as a multi-disciplinary performer across theatre, cabaret, and circus arts.
I was awarded a scholarship to train at Rose Bruford College of Speech and Drama in London, graduating with a BA (Hons) in Theatre Arts. My journey also took me to South Carolina, USA, where I studied theatre as part of an international programme, further expanding my artistic lens.
As a performer and teacher, I’ve always sought connection, transformation, and expression — and that same drive led me to producing. I fell in love with creating worlds from the ground up. I now produce live theatre, community events, cabarets, festivals, and everything in between. I believe in work that is bold, meaningful, and made with care.
My producing skills include:
Vision development and creative direction
Funding applications and bid writing
Budgeting and financial management
Stakeholder engagement
Programming and curation
Artist liaison and contracting
Project and event management
Marketing and audience development
Risk assessment and safeguarding compliance
Inclusive and community-led practice
In 2023, I co-founded a community arts organisation in response to the lack of accessible training spaces for performers in my area. Since then, we’ve secured our own building, which I co project managed and have created a vibrant hub for creativity on Grimsby Docks. I have developed and delivered a wide range of creative courses, outreach programmes and classes working in partnership with ACE NPO’s and Local Authorities.
I have successfully secured funding from Arts Council England's Project Grants and Developing Your Creative Practice schemes, as well as from the National Lottery Community Fund and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. This support has enabled me to deliver arts programmes for targeted communities, with total funding exceeding £100,000.
